Eat to Compete
Apr 28, 2017
Whether you consider yourself an athlete or amateur, these principals of sports nutrition can benefit us all!
Eat to Compete
Athletes are notoriously competitive and most will confess their greatest competitor is themselves. Striving toward your goals and taking care of your health is about being your personal best. This mindset provides inner motivation to make healthy eating a lifestyle choice rather than a chore.
Eat Early & Eat Often
Athletes approach food as fuel that is to be enjoyed, but also is meant to serve a purpose. Planning meals and snacks to coordinate a busy schedule is important for all of us so we are in the best position possible to make healthy choices. It’s about being proactive rather than reactive.
Let Food Follow Fitness
Just like workouts cycle between periods of ramping up and tapering down, so must an athlete’s nutrition. We all have periods of time when our calorie intake needs to be adjusted, or our nutrient needs may change. Adapting quickly to these dynamic needs is important for supporting your health, and performing at your best.
